Dr. Kang serves as a director of State Key Laboratory of Integrated Management of Insect & Rodent Pests, Institute of Zoology. He is a president of Beijing Institutes of Life Science, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and courtesy professor of the University of Nebraska. He serves as editor-in-chief of the international journal Insect Science, editorial board member of the Journal of Insect Physiology, and Council member of International Congress of Entomology.

Research Specialization: We are very interested in insect adaptation from molecular, cellular to organism and population levels by using molecular biological and genomic methods. We have three research aspects, covering ieco-genomics, cold tolerance, and chemical ecology and behavior of insects, especially the locust and leafminers as model system. About 90 research papers were published in international peer-review journals, including the well-known journals: PNAS, Annual Review of Entomology, Philosophical Transactions of Royal Society（B）, Genome Biology, Global Change Biology , PLoS One, Evolution, Insect Molecular Biology etc.
