Eco-genomics and Adaptation Group

Research interests:

Eco-genomics

Our research mainly focuses on the relationship between environmental factors and gene expression modulation during vital life activities of migratory locust by the means of self-developed locust genome microarray and trancriptome data. What¨s the most concern of these studies are phenotype plasticity of phase polymorphism, aging, and altitude hypoxia adaptation for the migratory locust.

Cold Hardiness

Studies of cold hardiness and its evolutionary mechanism for insects are very important to understand evolutionary adaptation. The focus of our laboratory is on insect responses to low temperature stress, the acclimated process, temperature tolerance in gene expression and regulation levels.

Chemical ecology and behavior

We try to elucidate the mechanism of chemical signal communication among plant-insect-natural enemies tri-trophic levels systematically through the methods of phytochemistry, insect neurobiology, behavior, and the molecular tools developed on plants and insects.
